Festival Nannies

the best addition to festivals with the family

Festivals with the kids are incredible and yet they can be even better when you also get to…

  • have some child free, adult only time

  • stay out as late as you like, not worrying about bed time or pulling the very cool (yet slightly pesky) cart around

  • see the acts you really want to see

This is where our Festival Nannies come in. Trained, vetted and experienced they are able to work with children of all ages from newborn upwards and with all types of additional needs. They are typically on site and available from Friday - Sunday, although it varies from festival to festival.

About Our Festival Nannies

We handpick our team of Festival Nannies to ensure we have the best team onsite. All of our Festival Nannies have:

  • lots of experience, worked with us before, completed our Junior Nanny Training Course or our JNC Level 2 Course (OR all of the above!)

  • an in date Enhanced DBS (criminal record check)

  • a current 12 hour paediatric first aid certificate

Our staffing team allocate our Festival Nannies to each booking depending on their experience and the ages of the child(ren) in the booking.

About Freckles

Simply put, we are the Festival Nanny company. And we have one objective… to ensure our families (that’s parents and their children) have the best time possible.

At all festivals we have a tent jam packed filled with toys, arts & crafts, blankets, teddies, games, fancy dress and so much more. It’s a space:

  • for the children to hang out in

  • that feels familiar and safe

  • that allows them to relax and reset so that they’re ready to either go again or go to bed!

From artists to producers and single festival going families to large groups of friends we’ve done it all - to date there is no request we’ve not been able to handle. We have a huge breadth of specialisms within our Festival Nanny team and are able to work with all ages and all needs. From newborns through to teenagers, from Downs to Autism and feeding tubes to non verbal - we’ve got this.

We’ve been working at Festivals since the summer of 2019 and each year we are better than the year before. We constantly innovate and improve our service. Tweak our process to simplify it for our parents and adjust our hours and bespoke services so that we can make your festival experience, the best experience and 2023 will be no different.

don’t just take our word for it

What are the services?

We offer two services; Private Nannying and Group Sessions, meaning we can support pretty much any family or friendship group set up!

Private Nannying

Private nannies work with a maximum of 3 children - these can be from the same family or a group of friends children - and are available to be booked at any time of day, giving you total flexibility to enjoy the festival exactly how you want to!

Our Festival Nannies are able to support you out and about at the festival, take the children off adventuring or care for the kids back at your camping area, whilst you enjoy an evening off.

Main info:

  • Availability: normally between 9am and 2am (this is festival dependant)

  • Where do they nanny? Out and about at the Festival, at the Freckles tent, and / or at the family camping area

  • Ratio: 1 nanny to 3 children, maximum of one child under the age of 2yrs (unless twins)

  • Cost: £45 per hour per nanny

Group Sessions

Our group sessions are more structured. They are 2 hour sessions that start and end at the Freckles tent and are available for children aged between 0 and 8 years. The sessions are delivered both at the Freckles tent and out and about around the festival. This ensures children have the opportunity to wind down, regroup and bond with the other children in the session and that they also get to continue the incredible festival experience

Children under 2 years stay at the Freckles tent for the duration of the session. We generally find that our littlest charges benefit and enjoy the peace (although sometimes it’s a little chaotic!!) and lower levels of stimulation at the Freckles tent, which results in them feeling more settled when going back out with parents as they’ve had a chance to ‘chill’.

Why book a Group Session for your child?

  • Group sessions are an amazing opportunity for your child to spend time with children of a similar age; make friends, play games all whilst continuing to experience the festival

  • The sessions are a mix of being based at the Freckles tent and out and about around the festival - this means they continue to get the experience of being at a festival but can have some chill time in a familiar setting

  • The Freckles tent is designed and set up like a play room with familiar toys and comforters, meaning children are likely to settle quickly, wind down and recoup their energy for more adventures with you later

  • Each day there is a themed session (2.30pm - 4.30pm) where the nannies and activity leader run a planned session, such as a treasure hunt, dancing show etc.

Main info:

  • Availability: 2 hour sessions normally running between 9.30am and 9.30pm (this is festival dependant), with one themed session per day (2.30pm - 4.30pm)

  • Where will they be? Out and about at the festival and / or at the Freckles tent. Children under 2 years stay at the Freckles tent.

  • Ratios:

    • 2 - 8 years are on a ratio of 1 nanny to 3 children

    • Under 2 years are on a ratio of 1 nanny to 2 children (staying at the stand)

  • Cost: £45 per 2 hour session, per child

FAQs

+ Can I have the same Festival Nanny for each of my bookings?

If you have multiple private nanny bookings then we will do our best to ensure you have the same Festival Nanny for each booking.

If you have multiple group session bookings, we do what we can to allocate the same Festival Nanny but it's not always possible.

+ What training / qualifications / experience do your Festival Nannies have?

Our Festival Nannies all hold DBS (criminal record checks) and paediatric first aid certificates. They have also passed our rigorous application process which includes 2 interviews. Many of them currently work for us or have previously worked for us in some capacity and a large number have completed our Junior Nanny Course training and / or our JNC Level 2 training course.

They have all also signed an NDA.

+ How does it work with going on rides / buying snacks etc.?

It’s up to you but many parents give the Festival Nanny some money (as cash or a bank card) to be able to do a couple of activities and get some food whilst out and about.

We ask that if you're child is booked in for a group session the nanny is given a float of £10 to cover any costs during the session. This means it's fairer for all the children in the group.

+ Can I change my booking?

We will do what we can to accommodate any changes to your booking but it ultimately depends on our Festival Nanny availability.

+ Can I book whilst we’re at the Festival?

Yes absolutely. However it depends on our Festival Nanny availability - we sold out last year and envisage doing so again even though we're bringing a bigger team. So, we do advise booking in advance!
